Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 3, 2023
Last Updated: August 22, 2025

At EXEL, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with our Enterprise Investigations application (“the Application”) and our website (www.exel.io).

1. No Data Collection by EXEL

EXEL does not collect, process, or store customer investigation data. All data entered into the Enterprise Investigations application is stored entirely within a customer’s own ServiceNow instance and is governed by that customer’s internal policies and controls.

  • EXEL does not host or access customer data.

  • EXEL does not sell or share customer data with third parties.

  • Customers are responsible for configuring their ServiceNow instance and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal privacy policies.

2. Information We Collect Through Our Website

When you visit our website, we may collect limited information for business purposes:

  • Contact Information: If you submit a support request, demo request, or other inquiry, we may collect your name, email address, and company details.

  • Usage Data: We may collect anonymized information such as browser type, device, and pages visited to improve website performance.

  • Cookies: Our website may use cookies to enhance user experience. You can adjust browser settings to refuse cookies if you prefer.

We do not use website data to build personal profiles or engage in behavioral advertising.

3. Use of Information

We use information collected from our website solely to:

  • Respond to inquiries and provide customer support.

  • Improve our website and services.

  • Provide updates about EXEL products and services (with your consent).

4. Data Security

Although EXEL does not store customer investigation data, we maintain appropriate safeguards to protect any limited information we collect via our website (such as inquiry forms).

Customer investigation data is protected within the customer’s ServiceNow instance under ServiceNow’s platform security model, including scoped roles, ACLs, and compliance standards.

5. Customer Responsibilities

Customers using the Enterprise Investigations application are responsible for:

  • Managing access to sensitive investigation data within their own ServiceNow instance.

  • Configuring and enforcing their own data retention and privacy policies.

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable privacy laws, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and other employment regulations.

6. Third-Party Services

The Enterprise Investigations application allows customers to integrate with third-party background check vendors (e.g., Sterling, First Advantage, The Work Number). EXEL does not control or manage these third-party services. Customers should review each vendor’s privacy policy to understand how data is handled.

7. Your Privacy Rights

Because EXEL does not collect investigation data, requests to access, correct, or delete such data must be directed to the customer (your employer or organization) that controls the ServiceNow instance.
